Faith Formation

The Goal

Why faith formation matters

Faith is the human response to the loving revelation of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. In striving to best reciprocate the love of God, and to share that love with our fellow humans, we work to grow in our knowledge and understanding of our faith and God.

Becoming Catholic - OCIA

All of us are on a life-long journey of discovering God’s love present in our lives, relationships, and creation. If you would like to know more about how we, as Catholics, receive and respond to God’s love, in the Sacraments, community, and service, consider joining our adult inquirer class. We welcome those who have never been active in any church, those who have been a member of another church or faith, and Catholics who may have been away from the Church for a while. There is always an invitation to join us, but never any pressure to do so.

Just Faith

The aim of the Just Faith ministry is to enable people of faith to develop a passion for justice in concrete acts of social ministry. This ministry provides faith formation processes and resources that emphasize the Gospel message of peace and justice, Catholic social teaching, and the intersection of spirituality and action.

The ministry also provides retreats to parishioners and community that focus on Social Justice and Mercy. To get involved with this ministry, we encourage you to come to one of our meetings and see if this is a fit for you. We meet every First Wednesday of the month in Room 6 at 7pm.

Men's Prayer and Sharing

You are invited on an interesting journey that will change your life for the better IF YOU are ready.

On the 2nd Tuesday of each month our Men’s Faith-Based Prayer Group meets at 6:30 P.M.

It is a small group of men of all ages and faiths who pray together, share the joys/challenges in our daily lives and discuss pertinent topics that help us grow spiritually. Recent topics have included: judgement and forgiveness, aging process - looking for the kingdom of God, and the purpose of our life on earth.

Everyone in the group is at a different level in his spiritual walk and each person is respected at their level. It is a place to listen, share and grow closer to God. The greatest form of teaching comes from wisdom due to life experiences.

Cursillo

What is Cursillo?

Cursillo is a Spanish word, which best translates as “Short Course”. The full title is Cursillo de Christiandad, a “Short Course in Christianity”.

The Cursillo Movement was born in Spain in the 1940's, it came to the United States in 1957, and to the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocese in 1962. With the recognition and blessings of the Popes and Bishops the Cursillo Movement has now spread worldwide in several different languages.

The reason many people have not heard about Cursillo, is because it was not inspired or meant to be an upfront, visible organization like Knights of Columbus, Altar Society, etc; rather Cursillo is simply a Lay Movement of the Catholic Church to serve in the apostolate. Its mission is exactly the same as the Church's – Evangelization, just carried out in a very natural way in our normal everyday lives.

Grief Group

The grief support group meets regularly throughout an annual cycle. If you are wanting to participate, please contact Ann.

Bible Study

The adult Bible study takes place on most Tuesday mornings after daily mass in room 9, near the parish office. This is a time of study and growth in a community of faith that is committed to growing in Christ in both faith and understanding.

To learn more, call the parish office at 816-373-2600.
