Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint (him) with oil in the name of the Lord. -- James 5:14

As Confirmation by conferring the Holy Spirit completes the sacrament of Baptism, so the anointing of the sick is the complement and completion of Reconciliation. It celebrates and reminds us of God's compassion and helps us to experience spiritual and physical strengthening when we are ill. Anyone suffering from serious illness or injury should receive this Sacrament of Healing. It is also recommended before surgery and for those suffering from the pains of aging. This Sacrament may be received at the Church, in the home or hospital.
