Parent-Child Sexuality Awareness Education
Parent-Child Sexuality Awareness Education courses are adapted
from the Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA) and are
designed for girls and boys 9-12. Generally, mothers attend with
their daughters and fathers with their sons. The course meets
weekly for four, two hour sessions. Reproductive anatomy, health
and hygiene, pregnancy, childbirth and parenthood are discussed
in all classes. Value clarification, communication and decision
making skills are emphasized in all four courses. This program
puts parent and child "on the same page" and opens the discussion
of sexuality in a non-threatening atmosphere. Classes begin in
March.
