Recognizing the importance of recycling's role in protecting and preserving the environment from both Stewardship and Social
Justice perspectives, St. Mark's has devised a recycling plan for parish operations. A
Recycling Program Overview outlines the internal program, focusing
primarily on how to recycle items used in the course of parish events. To be successful, the program needs committed volunteers to
help manage the recycling stations. To learn more about becoming a volunteer, check out the
Recycling Volunteer Role Description.
With regard to external recycling, there are some programs we can administer appropriately, and those are included in the
Recycling Program Overview document.
Space constraints (bins take up parking spaces) combined with significant problems
experienced earlier this year with inappropriate use of the mixed bins, resulted in the decision to remove the mixed bins from
the South Parking Lot (the paper bins are still there). We encourage parishioners to utilize their respective city's recycling
sites, as well as the many schools in our area that use recycling as a fundraising.
